Baltimore County, Maryland
Wallace Montgomery (WM), along with our Joint Venture partner Human & Rohde, Inc., prepared the design, construction details and landscape plan for this park in the center of Towson, Maryland dedicated to Baltimore County Olympians. The site is less than an acre in size and was formerly a Shell Gas Station. The design for the site was constrained by the requirements of on-going monitoring of a below-grade petroleum remediation system, which limited the amount of earthwork and grading possible.
The park includes a plaza area with seating and tables providing picnic facilities, and stone park sign, a winding paver walkway with monuments honoring each Olympian, a bronze statue commemorating the renaissance of Baltimore County, and an underground irrigation system. The park, dedicated in summer 2010, is landscaped with low maintenance plantings to provide an urban garden that enhances Towson’s business and restaurant center.
