April 2018 – Wallace Montgomery Welcomes Derek Morin, PE, DBIA as an Associate

Wallace Montgomery welcomes Derek Morin, PE, DBIA as an Associate with the Utilities Department. He brings over 22 years of broad civil/environmental engineering experience, and his work focuses on assessing and relocating various utilities; performing studies and developing project designs; coordinating field investigative tasks; and preparing contract documents.

Derek’s largest project to date is managing the consent decree-driven, three-year, $9.5-million High Level Sewershed Study for the City of Baltimore. This project required mobilizing field crews to collect data on one million linear feet of sanitary sewer and 5,800 manholes; performing multiple volumes of hydraulic modeling output; conducting infiltration and inflow analyses; and performing alternatives analysis. He prepared a recommendations report for submission to the Maryland Department of the Environment and the US Environmental Protection Agency. Derek integrates advanced technology, and approaches, into his work: His team’s sewer design considered construction by tunnel-boring machine to install new sewers beneath the District of Columbia, as well as the streets under Rock Creek Park. He is seasoned at overseeing multi-disciplined design teams, and at directing those teams in rehabilitating treatment plants and pump stations.

As an Associate in the Utilities Department, Derek assumes responsibility for project management, leadership, quality assurance and business development activities within the Department.
