WM’s Ray Mercado named MDOT SHA District 5 Consultant of the Year

Ray Mercado, a Senior Engineer within Wallace Montgomery’s Traffic Engineering Department, who has been on-site with MDOT SHA’s District 5, has received a top honor as Consultant of the Year. Ray initially joined MDOT SHA’s Anne Arundel team to assist with access management duties; however, his work was so efficient and thorough, he soon began to take on traffic assignments as well. According to his award citation, he has “taken newer traffic engineers under his wing, teaching them the art of traffic operations.”

District 5 praised Ray for his personal approach to working with internal and external colleagues, clients, and stakeholders – specifically mentioning how he meets with maintenance and construction teams in the field to help them determine how they can apply and install their ideas. The citation also notes his positive working relationships with the community: “He has gotten many compliments from citizens who appreciate his attention their concerns and the tangible improvements he has implemented for them.”
