WM Projects Featured in the National Park Service’s Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Covered Bridges

Wallace Montgomery (WM) is proud to announce that two of our projects – the Gilpin Falls Covered Bridge Project (completed for the Cecil County DPW) and the Jericho Road Covered Road Bridge Project (completed for the Baltimore County DPW) – have been featured in the National Park Services’ Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Covered Bridges. These guidelines, which were compiled by the Historic American Engineering Record and printed in book form, reflect industry standard-setting work and projects.

The book includes 11 covered bridge rehabilitation case studies that encompass varied truss types, locations, issues with rehabilitation, and budgets. The Gilpin Falls project required WM to provide inspection, evaluation, final engineering, and bid and construction phase services to rehabilitate the Gilpin Falls covered bridge through an innovative contractor qualification element in a traditional design-bid-build. The Jericho Road covered bridge is one of only three covered bridges in Maryland that carries vehicular traffic, and WM was tasked with preserving its functionality during this major rehabilitation project.
