Pedestrian Bridge over US 29 – Open to Public

The opening of the Pedestrian Bridge over US 29 near the Zan Road intersection in the City of Charlottesville was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony held on November 13th at 10am. Representatives from City of Charlottesville, Albemarle County, University of Virginia, Virginia Department of Transportation, Curtis Contracting, LLC, and Wallace Montgomery were present.

This marks Curtis Contracting’s completion of the Hydraulic Road/US 29 Improvements Design-Build project with Wallace Montgomery serving as Lead Designer. The $20.8M project included intersection improvements, new roundabout, shared use path, and multimodal connectivity that collectively provides safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users. This pedestrian bridge spans nine traffic lanes of US 29 and provides safe pedestrian access between the Seminole Square Shopping Center and the Shops at Stonefield.
