Backbone Solar Project Receives ACEC/MD 2026 Engineering Excellence Honor Award in the Energy Category

Wallace Montgomery is proud to share that the CPV Backbone Solar, LLC (Backbone Solar) Project received the ACEC/MD 2026 Engineering Excellence Honor Award in the Energy Category. A special shoutout to WM’s Project Manager, Luke Wildfire, PE!

This 735-acre reclaimed mining site on Backbone Mountain is now the largest solar array in western Maryland – delivering up to 160MWac annually of emission-free power (enough to power 30,000 Maryland households) and transforming previously disturbed land into resilient infrastructure.
