MARC New Storage Tracks at Martin Maintenance Yard

Wallace Montgomery is performing resident engineering, construction oversight, and contract administration services for the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) in connection with the MARC – New Storage Tracks at Martin Maintenance Yard project.

The project has broken ground and provides for the construction required to expand train storage capacity at the MTA’s MARC storage yard and maintenance facility in Baltimore County, adjacent to Martin State Airport and commonly known as the Martin Maintenance Yard. The work includes the installation of two new layover tracks with a service aisle and potable water hydrants between the tracks; a No. 8 double crossover between Tracks A and B; and a full-length direct fixation inspection pit on Track I with recessed lighting and electrical receptacles. Additional improvements include extensions of compressed air piping to service vehicles at the head ends of the two new layover tracks, partial electrification of the new tracks, pole-mounted lighting, an oily water separator, a precast stormwater management vault with cast-in-place concrete manway access slabs, and standby power cabinets at the block ends of the two layover tracks.
