The VDOT Northern Virginia District On-Call Guardrail Repair Contract provides comprehensive construction management, inspection, and engineering services for guardrail repairs across Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun counties. Scope includes evaluating damaged guardrails, preparing detailed construction cost estimates, and documenting findings in a GIS-based asset management system.
The WM Team revolutionized the guardrail replacement process by establishing a highly responsive, end-to-end workflow that dramatically improved efficiency, consistency, and quality across the region. A dedicated team of inspectors is deployed to each reported guardrail impact site to conduct real-time field assessments. At every location, damage is thoroughly documented and logged into the asset management system. Inspectors collaborate directly with contractors to evaluate the extent of the damage and develop an initial repair estimate.
Each estimate undergoes an internal review process to ensure accuracy and completeness before work authorization. Upon approval, contractors are issued a notice to proceed, and our inspectors provide on-site oversight throughout the repair process to enforce quality standards and verify compliance with VDOT specifications.
By standardizing this approach across four counties—each with unique jurisdictional requirements—we’ve created a scalable model for guardrail asset management that enhances responsiveness, ensures regulatory alignment, and maintains high construction quality. This project exemplifies our capacity to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional infrastructure efforts with precision, transparency, and technical excellence.
