MD 404 Dualization Design-Build, SHA

Design and construction of two additional lanes along nine miles of the existing MD 404 to create a dualized four-lane divided roadway from US 50 through Denton, MD for alleviating traffic congestion and improving safety. Project included J-turns and Maryland-T intersections to eliminate unprotected left turns from side streets, and roadway tie-ins to and from the existing MD 404 dual four-lane highway segments; a 115′ single-span bridge; multiple box culvert and multi-cell pipe extensions and replacements; roadway drainage and stormwater management facilities; intersection lighting; ITS features; signing; and pavement markings. The project received a 2018 AASHTO America’s Transportation Award for Quality of Life/Community Development.
