Ager Road Complete Green Streets, Prince George’s County DPW

Designed improvements on the 1.57-mile Ager Road corridor as a complete, green streets pilot project to improve safety and mobility for all users. The project fulfills its purpose and need to improve safety, accessibility, functionality and the aesthetics of Ager Road and adjacent streets in Hyattsville. Ager Road is a vital link in the regional transportation network, connecting several high-density residential communities inside of the Capital Beltway to the West Hyattsville Metrorail station, bus routes, local businesses, and community services.  The project scope included substantial roadway work, including a road diet to reduce speeding; upgraded traffic signals and intelligent transportation system (ITS) devices; the removal of parallel service roads to provide green space and continuous 6’-wide ADA-compliant sidewalks; bridge repair; drainage; LED street lighting; stormwater management (SWM); bus shelters; bicycle lanes; landscaping; and new linkages to the Anacostia Regional Trails network.
